A Three-Day Training Workshop on “Sustainable Solid Waste Management and Policies - SWAP in Phnom Penh

On July 27-29, 2022, the Faculty of Forestry Science of the Royal University of Agriculture co-organized a three-day training in partnership with Hamburg-Harburg University of Technology (TUHH) as part of the project "Sustainable Solid Waste Management and Policies - SWAP".

Phnom Penh: On July 27-29, 2022, the Faculty of Forestry Science of the Royal University of Agriculture co-organized a three-day training in partnership with Hamburg-Harburg University of Technology (TUHH) as part of the project “Sustainable Solid Waste Management and Policies - SWAP”. The training was co-chaired by Prof. Dr. Ngo Bunthan, Rector of the Royal University of Agriculture and Prof. Kerstin Kuchta, Vice-President of Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg (TUHH) and Chair of SWAP Project; Mr. Pin Tara, Vice-Rector of University of Heng Samrin Thbongkhmum; Mr. Kim Soben, Dean of Faculty of Forestry Science and RUA’s SWAP Project Coordinator; Mr. Sam Phalla, Executive Director of COMPOSTED. The training aimed to strengthen capacity at the higher education level, support technical vocational education with a focus on sustainable solid waste management, and discuss key concepts to develop strategies to promote knowledge and best practices between higher education institutions in Southeast Asia and the EU partners. In addition, the educational products were developed and shared during the training workshop with the Asian and European partners to provide skills and best practices for developing new modules or curricula on sustainable waste management and policy. Trainers are EU partners (IFOA, EuroTraining, POLIBA). Participants and relevant stakeholders were lecturer-researchers of the Royal University of Agriculture and the University of Heng Sarmin Thbongkhmum, the Department of Waste Management, and the Department of Hazardous Waste of the Ministry of Environment, staff and students.
