Dissemination workshop on “Sustainable Solid Waste Management and Policy-SWAP”

On 23rd September 2021, the SWAP’s Cambodia team organized a dissemination workshop on "Sustainable Solid Waste Management and Policy-SWAP”. The team organized a virtual event via Zoom with participation from the high management level, professors, researchers, and students of the RUA, UHST, NGOs, and relevant private sectors total of 100 participants.

The Sustainable Solid Waste Management and Policies (SWAP) project is a project funded by EU Erasmus+ CBHE which is coordinated by the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH). TUHH has the overall responsibility for managing the sound implementation of the project´s activities and ensure the highest impact of its outcomes and also responsible for conflict moderation and resolution among partners, fostering communication among them while also providing support and advice to all Work Package (WP) Leaders. The SWAP project is implemented by 11 partners (Universities and stakeholders) such as; partners in Southeast Asian countries, including Chiang Mai University (CMU), Maejo University (MJU) in Thailand, Royal University of Agriculture (RUA), University of Heng Samrin Thboung Khmum (UHST) and COMPED in Cambodia, Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry (TUAF) and Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry (HUAF) in Vietnam and in European (IFOA, Euro Training, POLIBA). On 23rd September 2021, the three implementing institutions of the Cambodia team (RUA, UHST, and COMPED) organized a virtual event via Zoom. The main objective of the event is to provide a general overview of the project and discuss the challenges, opportunities, and key concepts to develop policies and to improve the implementation of sustainable solid waste management projects in Cambodia. During the workshop, the two distinguished speakers H.E Chiek Ang, Advisor attached to the Ministry of Environment, and Mr. Sam Phalla, Deputy Director of COMPED, were invited for the panel discussion focused on the challenges and opportunities for solid waste management in Cambodia.
